The research of my laboratory involves several aspects of central nervous system development and regeneration:

    1) The study of inflammatory changes within the retina as a result of injury and/or disease and the potential outcome of chronic inflammation in triggering glial scarring.
    2) Identification of factors that are critical to the development of a cell type in the nervous system known as astrocytes.
    3) The role of epigenetics in retinal development and disease.
    4) The role of canonical and non-canonical bone morphogenetic signaling in retinal development and disease.
